The charm of the past is woven into life today, a delicate balance that we are careful to protect. We are a community of 1,600 people, many of them born and raised here, whilst in recent years more people have arrived from elsewhere.
Young families have chosen to stay or return, because this is a place where children can still play in the streets. We live in four small hamlets with the same shared mountain backdrop: San Lorenzo in Banale, Dorsino, Andogno, and Tavodo.
Each is different but has a single identity: San Lorenzo Dorsino, a municipality created in 2015 from a history of shared choices, common roots, and the desire to look to the future together. Until we joined forces, San Lorenzo in Banale and Dorsino were two small, separate municipalities.
In our villages time moves more slowly, and you immediately find yourself slowing down.
Cobbled streets, stone and wood-built houses that have been beautifully restored, vegetable gardens that bloom every year, locals chatting on benches in the square: small everyday pleasures that reflect a simpler way of life which you are welcome to share.
