The heart and soul of the village. Dating back to the Middle Ages, for centuries it was the mother parish church overseeing all of the other churches in the area.
A spiritual reference point for our community and for worshipers from Andalo and Ranzo. The parish church has always been a meeting point and even today it preserves all the charm of the past. The bell tower rises elegantly against the sky, overshadowed over by the Brenta Dolomites in the background.
The bell tower can almost seem like a giant pointer, indicating the stunning surroundings that we are so lucky to call home. Next to the parish church is the House of Prayer, a simple, welcoming space of silence and listening. A space where people can take a break from everyday live, giving themselves time to listen, to find themselves. In Tavodo, time has always moved more gently, this was the last village in the area to still have thatched roofs, when everywhere else already had tiles.
Those light, sloping roofs reflect a simple way of life, a farming culture that had learned to adapt to the mountain. Today we preserve their memory, through stories from our elders and faded photographs.
