I am a Greeter in San Lorenzo in Banale.
I have always lived here, born in a small house below Colle Beo. My father Pietro, a fruit and vegetable merchant, and my mother Sergia, a housewife, taught me the value of work and caring for others.
My childhood is linked to Colle Beo, where my grandfather Bonfiglio, a shoemaker, took me to see the Moon Stone, whose veins seem to tell distant stories. It is my favourite place: from up there, you can see San Lorenzo and the Bondai valley, and time goes back to the games of yesteryear.
Today, I accompany visitors along that path, through silent woods and the scent of cyclamen: it is the most beautiful way to share emotions and the authentic beauty of our village.
I owe my love for the community and my serious approach to things to my parents, values that I try to pass on to my children Rudy and Federica and my grandchildren. My wife Lorenza and I, married for almost fifty years, have always believed in volunteering and working for the common good.
In 1999, I helped revive the town band after forty years of silence. Music has once again united the town, even though my flugelhorn now rests. I had the honour of being mayor when San Lorenzo was named one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
Today, as a Greeter, I continue to talk about my village with pride and gratitude: because every encounter, every curious glance, reminds me how lucky I am to live here.
