As mountain people, we love authentic flavours, the kind that come from the land, shaped by the know-how of our farmers. We live in a land of plenty, recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve for its extraordinary biodiversity.
We are surrounded by cultivated fields and meadows to be mown, warmed by the sun and caressed by the Ora, the nourishing breeze that comes up from Lake Garda. Every day, our dedicated farmers care for the land with passion and respect.
Through their work they safeguard the landscape and preserve its ability to renew itself. They run small farms where they grow healthy, wholesome food. You can buy it directly from producers' shops, while in restaurants you will find it incorporated into the local culinary tradition.
These flavours embody the story of our hamlets and our people, one bite at a time. There are both ancient and new flavours, intense and inimitable, like Ciuìga from Banale, the unmistakable cured sausage made with pork and turnips, which is celebrated at the beginning of November with its traditional festival.
