In San Lorenzo Dorsino, summer and autumn are a time for village festivals. We gather in the squares, around long tables, the air filled with music and laughter that carries on late into the evening.
These are days of celebration, of simple dishes that remind us of home. Traditions that have stood the test of time and are renewed every year. We celebrate the fruits of the land, our craftsmanship, music, and traditions. During the festivals you can enjoy specialities like polenta, canederli, capussi, fasoi en bronzon, and mountain pasture cheeses and many other simple dishes, passed down from generation to generation, reflecting the deep bond between this land and its people. Between the dishes, the sounds of the San Lorenzo Dorsino Band and the voices of the Cima d’Ambiez choir ring out, their rhythms expressing our pride in these mountains.
Every festival tells a story, written by ancient traditions, skilled hands, and the volunteers who pitch in with passion and pride. It is the moment when the community comes together to give you an unforgettable time. Of all the festivals, the Festa della Ciuìga is the most eagerly awaited.
It is the one which unites us more than any other, an autumnal celebration held at the start of November in honour of the Ciuìga del Banale, our cured sausage made with pork and turnips, now a Slow Food Presidium and a symbol of San Lorenzo Dorsino. Ancient cellars are filled with stalls exhibiting local produce and artisan crafts.
The streets come alive with flavours, smiles, and voices. When you take part in one of our festivals, you are invited to become part of our community, offering you a warm and heartfelt welcome.
