The Cammino di San Vili, what we like to call our little Camino de Santiago, is not walked only with your feet, but with your soul.
Dedicated to Saint Vigilius, the third bishop and patron saint of Trento, the route follows the ancient Roman road that, according to tradition, Vigilius traveled in the 4th century AD during his evangelizing mission. It links the Brenta Dolomites to the Adige Valley, from Madonna di Campiglio to Trento, through mountains, forests, and villages rich in traditions, where water speaks with rock and people have shaped agricultural landscapes of great beauty.
The walk speaks the language of slowness: every step invites discovery, every breath becomes a prayer. It can be followed in two variants: the lower itinerary (109 km), easier and rich in history and culture, and the higher itinerary (110 km), more demanding, among majestic views and wild nature. The route alternates trails, farm tracks, and mountain roads, and can also be done by bicycle.
The best time to set out is from April to October: thanks to the altitude and the constant presence of water and shade, it is one of the few long-distance routes that is also ideal in summer.
In the San Lorenzo Dorsino section, the trail crosses Tavodo, Andogno, Moline, and Deggia: here the forest opens and closes like a breath, and among the rocks you discover small devotional niches, ex-votos left by the woodcutters who worked along the sheer drops of the Forra del Limarò, where the Sarca river carves extraordinary natural sculptures.
The Cammino di San Vili is not only a route through mountains and valleys: it is an experience of meeting, listening, and transformation. A journey that does not end in Trento, but continues within those who walk it.
