Mountains, mountains, mountains, I love you. Every day I fall more and more in love with the mountains.
This is what Pier Giorgio Frassati wrote, the saint of young people, who among the peaks found the voice of God and the joy of the journey. For him, the mountain was not only a destination to reach, but a gym for the soul, where you train your eyes for beauty and your heart for goodness.
From Turin, Frassati lived an intense and generous life, divided between friends, the mountains, and the poor. He died at just twenty-four, in 1925, from pneumonia contracted while bringing help to those most in need. Beatified in 1990 and proclaimed a saint at the Youth Jubilee of 2025, he is now a symbol of a living faith, that climbs “upward and toward the other”.
To honor his memory, the Italian Alpine Club dedicated a trail to him in every region of Italy: twenty-two routes that unite nature and spirituality, recalling his enthusiasm and love for creation.
The Frassati Trail of Trentino is the longest: over 100 kilometers in seven stages, from Arco to the Sanctuary of San Romedio in Val di Non. A route accessible to everyone and rich in meaning, among woods, hamlets, and views that invite reflection.
The third stage crosses San Lorenzo Dorsino, passing through Tavodo, Andogno, Moline, Deggia, and Nembia. At the end of the journey, at the Sanctuary of San Romedio, you receive a certificate that celebrates not only the distance covered, but the inner journey made along the way.
