Imagine stepping into a time machine, hand in hand with your child.
At the Fiavé Pile Dwelling Museum, each room is a window onto the Bronze Age, bringing to life a world from 4,000 years ago. Every object tells the story of our ancestors' lives: over three hundred wooden artefacts, among the oldest in the world, including cups, ladles, whisks, clubs, bowls and sickles, reveal the skilful and simple gestures of men and women who lived thousands of years ago.
Next to them, bronze, amber and gold jewellery shine like small fragments of eternity, while seeds, cereals and fruits reveal what they cultivated and harvested. Everything has been brought to light by archaeologists excavating the nearby pile-dwelling area, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
On the upper floor, a large model of the village, one of the most impressive ever made, invites you to enter the daily life of prehistoric men. More than seventy tiny figures animate the scene: some working wood, some weaving fibres, some cooking, some hunting.
And when your child looks on with fascination, you realise that they are not just looking: they are travelling through time with you.
And do you know what the best thing is? The Fiavé Pile Dwelling Museum has been awarded the Family in Trentino mark by the Autonomous Province of Trento, a recognition that rewards places capable of welcoming and amazing children.
