Summer 2024. An email arrives from New York, making the heart of San Lorenzo Dorsino beat a little faster.
There is a magical moment when the world, vast and distant, notices us. Someone, across the Atlantic, has spoken the name of San Lorenzo Dorsino and decided that we deserve to be part of a global family.
“As the Chair of the International Greeter Association, I welcome San Lorenzo Dorsino Greeters to the global Greeter family.”
We made it. San Lorenzo Dorsino is officially the first Italian village welcomed into the International Greeter Association, a worldwide network of over 3,000 volunteers across 43 countries. It is a milestone that breathes pride and history.
Who are the Greeters?
They are everyday people: homemakers, retirees, teachers. Locals who choose to donate their most precious asset: their time, their memories, and their love for their land. They are not traditional tour guides. They welcome visitors just as one welcomes a lifelong friend.
They walk through the village streets, telling its story through their own eyes, enriching it with personal memories and lived experiences. This isn’t the glossy village of postcards, but the authentic one—made of daily life, roots, and identity. With the Greeters, you discover our villages from the inside. A simple walk becomes a journey through memory, exploring traditions, stories, and the hidden corners of the heart. No two visits are ever the same; every path is unique.
You won't be just a visitor: you will arrive as a Guest and leave as a Friend.
Because the most beautiful stories are born from encounters. And here in San Lorenzo Dorsino, we know how to turn every meeting into a sincere embrace.
The San Lorenzo Dorsino Greeters share fundamental values with Greeters all over the world:
- they are volunteers who offer their time free of charge.
- they welcome individuals and small groups of up to six people
- all visitors are welcome, without any form of discrimination
- they promote sustainable tourism, respecting both natural and man-made environments
- they foster cultural and economic enrichment for the Community, creating meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange.
